...about 3-4 times. Mineral spirits and boiled linseed oil can be bought at any paint section and it's pretty cheap. Just another technique .

... you need to prime the wall with oil based primer. That.... You can use a texture paint that you roll on the wall, then create...the wall. After all of these techniques you can paint (or not).
