The commission is usually 5-6% split 50/50. Half to the sellers agent and half to the buyers agent. The size of the company should never become a factor in the commission rate charged or the % of the split. RodW.

The standard commission is 6% which is divided between the buyer's and seller's agent. 5% is good for your pocket - you save $1,350 in commissions . The average fee is probably in the low 5% range.

Real estate agents do not receive salaries. They work on commission . Some brokers even charge agents for desk space.
