Menards is pretty good about refunds. Explain that you were misadvised by an employee. If you have the receipt, you will get what you paid, if not, the lowest sale price it has sold for recently.

The real problem is, you bought a car battery from Menard 's. You can take the battery to somewhere like fleet farm and get a discount on a new one for bringing in the bad one. Next time, ask for the receipt.

All you need is a very small amount, maybe a thimble full, this will help get the gas flowing through the carb. you may have to do it several times. Also a new plug might be in order. As far as danger? Gas goes in the cylinder anyway.
