  7. Not citizenship .  I do think that there should be a pathway to legal status, a green card.  But the penalty they would pay for having been here illegally is they could not become a citizen.

  8. To renounce US citizenship , you must be a citizen of another country, and legally reside outside the US. Takes about a year to process a renunciation, and the application fee is $2350. You may also be subject to the Exit Tax.
