No it wouldn't be, but most people in Australia pay 200+ for rent. In Sydney, $200 or below is almost impossible to find, and if you live far from the city, it is hard to find a job.

Most other derogatory terms for people in other lands don't seem to necessarily have the connotation of rural existence as redneck does. Otherwise there are Bogans, Neds, Chavs, Dres, etc. And it's "redneck" not red neck...
