Nope. A TPS is like a volume control on a TV or radio. It's just a potentiometer... by a vacuum leak or a bad idle air control valve. Replace the TPS is you like wasting your money.

NO it is not. However the TPS does play a part on when the transmission shift's because the TPS basically tell's the computer how far down you are pushing on the accelerator pedal.

This is a 4.3L TBI, so the TPS is located on the opposite side of the throttle body from the throttle linkage. It is usually black and has three wires going to it.
