Richard is a nice classic name while Riley is more of a contemporary one. Put together they kind... and stuff). So if you really like the name Riley and your husband likes the name Richard, Richard Riley might not be such a bad compromise!

Richard is my dad's name, and Roger is my uncle's name! I can't really answer because there isn't a first name to compare it to. Richard seems like it might work better, though.
