Just to remove the transmission oil pan, you just need to drain the pan. Maybe remove the transmission cross member and then unbolt the pan. Unless if your doing other stuff you wont have to do the other things listed.

One of two things. Excessive clearance between pad and caliper or between pad and splash shield. Pad hold-down clips missing or improperly positioned.
