No, you keep the number even after another John Doe's death. I.e., everyone keeps their name after death. It doesn't change what the remaining people are.

You should ask in one of the computer categories. Most of us geezers here in Genealogy don't use IM. Be alert, too - the automatic category checker goofs sometimes. Don't believe everything a computer tells you.
