The DPS will not have a notary on site. You will definitely have to go elsewhere.

take the online tests... i know this is for tennessee, but it still works.. http://www.tennesseeanytime.org/dlpractice/ just go to your states .gov website and search driving and a bunch of practice tests should come up along with a study guide booklet thing... just take...

I'm sure the list is in the drivers handbook. Off the top of my head, your permit, insurance card(your name on it), auto with valid tags, inspection sticker, and legal tires, all lights working, clean and in good mechanical condition...
