That "thingy" is called Assistive Touch. Go to Settings>General>Accessibility>Assitive Touch and turn it off. Very simple to do.

You can't use a Koodo SIM in a Rogers phone. If you want to use the Koodo SIM in that phone, you have to unlock it first.
