Well Hiaku goes 5 syllables, 7 syllables, and 5 syllables again, while European poems could have stanzas like ABA or ABBA or even AABA. I hope that you find this helpful.

Look at the second verse again. You're a little off. "Arrayed" is a near-rhyme for "said," so the rhyme scheme is more consistent. As for "conventional," the only way it could be MORE conventional would be if it were a sonnet...
